Assessment Team from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), Canada

October 5, 2023 – It was an exciting day at PhilSCA as we welcomed the Assessment Team from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), Canada, for the second phase of field assessment of our AME program.
This partnership between PhilSCA and BCIT was signed in Victoria, Canada, in June 2023, and it is taking aviation education to new heights! The BCIT delegation included Steve Perry, Dean of Transportation; Chris Shannon, Department Head of Aircraft Maintenance; and Lawrence Gu, Ph.D., P.Eng., Dean, BCIT International.
PhilSCA President, Prof. Marwin M. Dela Cruz, the visionary behind this pioneering CHED-funded transnational education project, was accompanied by Trustee Col. Pedro S Agapito, PAF. A campus tour was conducted in the morning, followed by a facility visit at PAL Express, PhilSCA’s technical faculty training partner. Vice President Engr Jun Raras welcomed the group.
As Lawrence Gu reported, “BCIT’s new president Dr. Jeff Zabudsky is really keen in support of this new initiative despite the fact that the AME program has never been delivered outside of BCIT’s Aerospace Technology Campus. BC Ministry of Post Secondary Education and Future Skills has also shown great enthusiasm for this joint program, thanks to the Philippines Ambassador in Canada and Consul General in Vancouver for their great and effective advocacy on this important initiative. We are making history with PHILSCA; it is exciting!”
Stay tuned for updates on this incredible collaboration shaping aviation education’s future in the Philippines and Canada!
